Help - Watchlists

To create a new watchlist, you can either:

  • Choose 'New Watchlist' from the 'File' menu
  • Hit the ocean-coloured 'New Watchlist' button on the toolbar

A fixed watchlist exists for each portfolio.

To add a stock to a custom watchlist you right-click the Watchlist tree item under the 'My Watchlists' tab and choose 'add stock to watchlist'. Don't forget to search for the correct stock code.

Each watchlist has a table which contains a row for each share and various columns of data to be 'watched' for that share. These columns contain both the manual and the automatic data for price alerts found in the held shares, although no alerts are triggered from a Watchlist.

As always, you can adjust which columns are displayed by right clicking the column headers and using the popup menu.

The LR Value is the linear regression value over the last N weeks (weekly data) where N is defined in StockWhip Options, and defaulted to 13.

The LR Rate is the annualised percentage gain of the LR Value over the last N weeks where N is defined in StockWhip Options, and defaulted to 20.

The Auto Min/Max values are calculated based on multiples of the average true range (ATR) above and below the natural linear regression value. These can be configured in StockWhip Options.

The Auto Max Portfolio is an automatic indicator of maximum position size as a percentage of your portfolio. It is calculated as the percentage of your portfolio's capital that can be held in that share before more than 2% of that capital would be lost by the share price moving from the current price to the Min Price value (value restricted to a maximum of 20%)

Auto Volatility is the ATR (over the last two weeks) percentage of the current LR Rate.

A stock row in a watchlist table may be coloured blue when the following conditions hold true: - the current price is below the 'LR value' but above the minimum value - the current price is above the closing price from a week ago - most of the end of day prices in the past week are above the closing price of a week ago - the 'LR rate' is above 30% Thus, this is a buy indicator for a upwardly trending stock.
