Help - Selling Shares

To register the sale of shares, you can either:

  • Choose 'Sell Shares' from the 'Portfolios' menu
  • Hit the tangerine 'Sell Shares' button on the toolbar
  • Right click your portfolio name, or 'Shares Held' under the 'My Portfolios' tree tab and select 'Sell Shares' from the popup menu
  • Right click a tree or table entry for a held share and choose 'Sell some ...'

You will be presented with the dialog below to enter the share sale information. If there is any ambiguity about which portfolio to register the share sale from, StockWhip will ask you to select one.

In the dialog, the first thing is to choose the stock code for the share from the drop down list of shares you hold. StockWhip must have this share registered as held before you can register it as sold.

Then enter the number of shares sold, the price sold at, the brokerage, and (get this right!) the date on which the shares were sold.

You can optionally enter a comment about the sale.
